The Umpqua Kennel Club, Inc. is a non-profit organization and member club of the American Kennel Club (AKC), devoted to the advancement of purebred dogs. The AKC is a "club of clubs," comprised of over 500 member clubs and almost 5000 affiliated clubs.

  • Encourage and promote the best in the breeding of Pure Breed Dogs.
     

  •  American Kennel Club Breed Standard as its standard of excellence.
     

  • Sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience/rally trials.

  • Mixed Breed Dog participation in AKC performance events


Umpqua Kennel Club Goals

  • Conduct sanctioned matches, licensed all-breed dog shows and obedience/rally trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club.
     

  • Promote dog-related educational programs and seminars.
     

  • Attract members experienced in every aspect of AKC activities, conformation, agility, rally obedience, tracking and hunt testing.
     

  • Host AKC sanctioned dog shows.

  • Host Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluations for all dogs, including unregistered and mixed-breeds. CGC is a title awarded by the AKC (American Kennel Club) to dogs who pass the CGC test - a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership and basic good dog manners.
